Does anyone know how I can figure out where an IP address is or coming from?

Does anyone know how I can figure out where an IP address is or coming from?

I have Norton, and it tells me when someone is trying to hack into my computer. There have been about 2 different IP addresses that have tried to hack in for the past hour and also for the past month or so. I recoreded the addresses, but I need to know how I can go about reporting it and finding out where they are coming from. Please if anyone knows about this let me know.Does anyone know how I can figure out where an IP address is or coming from?

Thank You. Report Abuse

try ip2location.com
Download and install the lite version of VisualRoute,

http://www.visualroute.com/lite.html

then run the program and enter the IP address you need to trace.
You will get all ip informations from:

http://www.find-ip-address.org

and you will be able to test ip address for malicious activity and find out of it is already blacklisted.
Go to ARIN.net and do a whois search.

There will be an abuse email with the IP information, along with the entity the IPs were allocated / assigned to.

Arin is the controller of IP registration, so you can't get a better source.
