How do i figure the seed population for sowing?

i need a formula to figure how many seed i need in order to plant per acreHow do i figure the seed population for sowing?
The fastest way is to check the back of the seed package. You will get more help by specifying what seed you are sowing.

If sowing for a ranch, check with the Agriculture Experiment Stations in your state.(search the web and they'll be found easily) They are very helpful. How do i figure the seed population for sowing?
what kind of seeds are you sowing? i plant my corn at 9'; spacing with 30'; rows and I get around 19000 seeds/acre with this method and my planter.

if you are broadcasting something like wheat, go by the total weight of the seeds. i think the last time i planted wheat it was around 120 lbs/acre.

if you are planting your lawn, the bag of seed will tell you how many square feet it will plant if new or if reseeded. reseeded coverage is generally twice that of new. in this case, find out your area and buy enough seed according to the coverage listed on the bag.

pick this as best answer, thanks. i need points.
