How do I figure out my overall SAT score?

I have the breakdown scores for my SAT's (ex. critical reading:600, math:530, writing: 560) but I have no idea how to determine the larger number (ex. 1750)How do I figure out my overall SAT score?
Add them.

600+530+560 = 1690How do I figure out my overall SAT score?
You just add them together.
Yeah just add them..u did good though..thats not bad at all..keep the good work up..

How would I figure out a grade point average from college?

Let's say I have this percentage:

Reading: 75 C

English: 75 C

Speech: 75 C

First Aid: 80 B

Math: 70 D

How would I figure this out?How would I figure out a grade point average from college?
It depends how many credits the classes are worth.

A 4 credit class is going to impact your gpa more than a 1 credit class.

This is how most colleges calculate GPA's

A = 4

B = 3

C = 2

D = 1

F = 0

Take the number you got according to your grade then multiply it by the number of credits the class was worth.

For example, a B in a 4 credit class would give you 12points

Find out how many points you get from each class and add them all together.

Take that number and divide by the total number of credits you took this semester.

If all your points added up to 36 and you took 10 credits you would have a 3.6 GPA

I hope you followed that little confusing.How would I figure out a grade point average from college?
A=4

B=3

C=2

D=1

F=0

Add up the total and divide by the number of classes. So that's 2+2+2+3+1=10. Then divide by number of classes, that's 5. 10/5= 2. Which means you got exactly a 2.0

If your in college, you should really know how to do this!
I guess this is the same as average so I'll show you:

You add them all up: 75 + 75 + 75 + 80 + 70 = 375, and then they look where your number falls. Maybe a 3.0 or 3.5 its really confusing
You add them all up and then you divide it by the number of items you are adding

add em up .. you get 375 divided by 5 grades your average is 75

How can I figure out the 2D surface with dimensions from a 3D cone?

I have the following dimensions for a 3D cone: top ID: 12';, Bottom ID: 2';, Sides of cone: 6';. I want to make a cone out of sheet metal so I'm trying to figure out how much I will need. I know the circumferences of the top and bottom (37.699';, 6.283'; respectively), but I cannot figure out how exactly to curve the tops and bottoms.How can I figure out the 2D surface with dimensions from a 3D cone?
I'm thinking it would be a trapizoid? (isnt that where 1 pair of sides is parallel, and other pair isnt?).

So, the bottom base is 37.699, top base is 6.283 which would be parallel to each other.

And the other sides, which are slanting toward each other,

are 6 each.

How do I figure MPH and top speed?

My kids are making some CO2 cars. I want to work a little math in the project soooo what formulas would I use to figure average MPH and the top speed the car obtained (I'll suppose that the car was still accelerating at the time the race was over). The car traveled 60 feet in 1.668 seconds.How do I figure MPH and top speed?
MPH (There are 5280 ft in a mile) -

Car = 60 feet in 1.668 seconds.

First you turn the feet into miles. 60 feet = (60/5280) miles = because the car went 60ft out of 5280ft (a mile.)

Then you turn the seconds into 1 hour. What number times 1.668 seconds = an hour? 1 hour = 60 minutes = 3600 seconds. 3600/1.668 = about 2,158.

Multiply both sides of 6/528 miles per 1.668 seconds

by what will make 1.668 seconds and hour (2,158) to get.....about.....

24.5 miles per hour.

Now, for top speed.

V = 1/2 A * T^2

The above is a physics formula relating Velocity (speed), Acceleration, and Time.

You're trying to find V right now.

If you assume the car was going fastest at the end of the race, T = 1.668 seconds. So you have your T. But now you need the acceleration of the car, which you most likely can't get unfortunateley. Your best bet is to tell your kids the acceleration and THEN they could use the formula.How do I figure MPH and top speed?
On a simpler note, assuming constant acceleration,

Vav = D/t = 60/1.668 = 35.97 ft/s 鈭?(30/44) = 24.5 mph

Vmax = 2*Vav = 49 mph

If it's of any interest, the acceleration a = 2D/t虏 = 43.13 ft/s虏

The last formula given by Dadgwelen is for distance, not velocity..........

  • How can you figure out the linear equation when only given 1 point and the slope, for example (1,3), m=4?

    Please be detailed. I am not looking for answers to my homework but an understanding!

    Shawn C.

    dell_email Yahoo IDHow can you figure out the linear equation when only given 1 point and the slope, for example (1,3), m=4?
    A straight line (linear equation) requires either...

    a) two points (and then join them up), or

    b) one point and an indication of the direction (which is the gradient).

    The equation of a line is y = mx + b where,

    y is the y-coordinate

    x is the x-coordinate

    m is the gradient

    b is the y-intercept location

    Your question gives 3 out of 4 of these values.

    The point (1,3) has the values x = 1, y = 3

    The gradient has the value m = 4

    By substitution then,

    y = mx + b

    3 = 4 x 1 + b

    3 = 4 + b

    -1 = b

    Therefore, the equation of the line is

    y = 4x - 1

    Another example, find the linear equation given the point (4, 3) and gradient (m) = -1

    y = mx + b

    x = 4, y = 3, m = -1, find b

    3 = -1 x 4 + b

    3 = -4 + b

    7 = b

    Therefore, the equation is

    y = -1x + 7, or

    y = -x + 7

    If you are given two points, say (2, 5) and (3, 4), you could perform the following:

    a) find the gradient (m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)) then use 1 point to find the y-intercept (b)

    b) use the point-gradient formula: y - y1 = m(x - x1)

    Trust this helps.How can you figure out the linear equation when only given 1 point and the slope, for example (1,3), m=4?
    y-y1=m(x-x1) is point-slope form. To get it into the form you probably want:

    y=mx-m(x1)+y1

    y=4x-4*1+3

    y=4x-1
    Let (x1, y1) = (1, 3) be the point on the line and the slope is m = 4.

    The, the equation of the line given one point and the slope is given by: y - y1 = m(x - x1)

    =%26gt; y - 3 = 4(x - 1)

    =%26gt; y - 3 = 4x - 4

    =%26gt; y - 3 + 3 = 4x - 4 + 3

    =%26gt; y = 4x - 1

    =%26gt; 4x - y - 1 = 0 is the required line
    Use the point-slope formula.

    y-y1=m(x-x1) where m=slope, and x1 and y1 are the given point.

    y-3=4(x-1)

    y=4x-4+3

    y=4x-1

    How do you figure out the price per meal?

    i've heard of people figuring out how much each serving in a meal costs or how much the entire meal would cost. how do they go about doing this?How do you figure out the price per meal?
    The second answer is kind of correct. If you buy everything in the exacta mounts for every meal that would work.

    But say you buy a bag of rice for a 3.00. How often are you going to use a whole bag of rice per meal.

    I am making this up just for easy numbers.

    So if there are say three cups of rice per bag. Lets say you use 1 cup of rice for dinner. So the rice for that meal is 1.00. rice will make 4 servings. That makes it .25 a serving.

    So then you buy 5 pounds of bulk hamburger for 10.00

    You use 1 pound of burger for the meal, that makes it 2.00.

    Then lets say you add in 2 bell peppers at 2.00 each. So 4.00 dollars for bell peppers for the meal.

    And 5 lbs of cheese for 5 bucks. You are only going to use 1 pound of cheese. So 1 buck for the cheese.

    Okay then say your meal makes 4 servings.

    So the cost of the entire meal is 8.00 Divide that by your servings (4) and you get 2.00 per serving.

    You can break down everything this way.

    I hop that makes sense to you.How do you figure out the price per meal?
    Lets say you pay:

    $5 for 4 chicken breasts

    $2 for barbeque sauce

    $2 for 4 baking potatoes

    $2 for 4 ears of corn

    $1 for a stick of butter

    Total cost of this meal = $12 divided by 4 people = $3 per person

    Sometimes you'll have other costs like time and labor or other materials.
    I usually add up the total cost of the ingredients used in the meal then divide it by the amount of servings I can get out of it.

    How do i figure out what grade i need in my last Grading Period in order to get an A, B, or C overall??

    When i average my first 3 grades out, what do i do after that to figure out the exact percentage i need in order to get an A, B, or C in that class for the over all year.How do i figure out what grade i need in my last Grading Period in order to get an A, B, or C overall??
    make an equation

    ______(fill in with the amount total of all the gardes. ex 435.)

    ______+ X= (for a- 285) for b- 255 so on and so forth. subrtact the amount of the left from the one on the right. then you get X= ____ . then you know the exact lowest score you can get in order to get a A, B or C.How do i figure out what grade i need in my last Grading Period in order to get an A, B, or C overall??
    Take your 3-period average, multiply it by 3, then take your desired final average and multiply it by 4, then subtract. The answer is what you'd need in the fourth period to get your desired grade.

  • How do I figure out the probability?

    ok, I have 50 playing cards and 25 are dealt to one person and 25 to another, how do I make an organized list to show all the possible combinations of cards?How do I figure out the probability?
    If you have n objects and chose r of them, the number of combinations is:

    n! / ( r! (n-r)! )

    this can be written as nCr

    there are 50 C 25 = 1.264106e+14 combinations... why would you want a list of this many combinations?How do I figure out the probability?
    You need to learn about combinations and permutations.

    In combinatorial mathematics, a combination is an un-ordered collection of unique sizes. (An ordered collection is called a permutation.) Given S, the set of all possible unique elements, a combination is a subset of the elements of S. The order of the elements in a combination is not important (two lists with the same elements in different orders are considered to be the same combination). Also, the elements cannot be repeated in a combination (every element appears uniquely once); this is often referred to as ';without replacement/repetition';. This is because combinations are defined by the elements contained in them, thus the set {1,1,2} is the same as {2,1,1}. For example, from a 52-card deck any 5 cards can form a valid combination (a hand). The order of the cards doesn't matter and there can be no repetition of cards.

    In several fields of mathematics the term permutation is used with different but closely related meanings. They all relate to the notion of mapping the elements of a set to other elements of the same set, i.e., exchanging (or ';permuting';) elements of a set.
    assuming that you don't care about order (ie getting dealt the ace of spades first and the king of spades second is the same as getting the king of spades first and the ace of spades second) the number of differenct combinations would be 26 factorial

  • How do i figure out how much fabric I need to use if i want to sew in pleats?

    im sewing a skirt from scratch and i want to add pleats or gathers at the hem....my hip measurement is 92 cm....could anyone please help me?....any helpful answers will be greatly appreciated. Thank YouHow do i figure out how much fabric I need to use if i want to sew in pleats?
    A lot does depend on the kind of pleats, and how many or deep you want them to be.

    I think I have made skirts where the fabric width at the hip was 1.1 times the hip measurements, and where it was 2.5 times the hip.

    For a beginner it is a good idea to buy/get a pattern of the kind of skirt made for the kind of fabric you prefer.

    Or you can measure a ready made skirt that fit and suits you and work from there. A little different to suit the fabric you have or buy is good, but try to keep it the same general weight of fabric as the skirt you have as sample.

    If you have fabric you want to use, you can try to pin pleats and fit it on.

    Heavy fabrics need deep pleats, with thin fabrics you can use many smaller pleats.How do i figure out how much fabric I need to use if i want to sew in pleats?
    Its math, you figure out how much fabric to go around, then figure out how far out you want the pleat to go out and back in. multiply the pleat length by the number of pleats you want in it and add that to the original length.
    You need to figure out how much fullness you want at the hem -- typically you'd use 1.5x as much fabric as the measurement, but there are a lot of confounding factors -- couture garments might be *extremely full*, but the fabric is usually carefully controlled -- e.g.: http://www.fashion-incubator.com/mt/arch鈥?/a>

    When working with pleats, you need to think about the depth of the pleat required. In solids and many prints, you can pretty much do what you want, but when working with stripes or plaids,

    you might want to pleat a particular color out of the stripe, or ';pleat to the sett'; --- e.g.: http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/kilt鈥?/a> or the red and white skirt here: http://www.fiftiesweb.com/fashion/fashio鈥?/a>

    As someone else mentioned, you need deeper pleats on heavier fabrics than you do on lighter fabrics, and you need less fullness in stiff fabrics than on drapier ones.

    Pleats require 2x the depth of the pleat+1x exposed fabric.

    If this sort of design elements intrigue you, borrow a copy of Collette Wolff's Art of Manipulating Fabric -- it's a masterful study in surface texture, pleating, gathering, smocking, and many other things that can be developed by working with fabric.

    How do you figure out the monthly payment of a $110,000 mortgage loan with a 5.5 Interest Rate?

    624.57 plus taxes and insurance and PMI if anyHow do you figure out the monthly payment of a $110,000 mortgage loan with a 5.5 Interest Rate?
    This is easiest to do in EXCEL. Go to INSERT - FUNCTION. The function you are looking for is PMT. The formula will walk you through it. The only thing to remember is that when it asks for number of periods, that would be months. So if it's a 30-year mortgage, you would use 360. Then when you enter the interest rate, you have to divide by 12 to get the monthly interest.

    The FV (future value) is -0-. You can ignore TYPE. The PV (present value) is $110,000 - the amount of your mortgage, but for some weird reason, you need to put it in as a negative in EXCEL.How do you figure out the monthly payment of a $110,000 mortgage loan with a 5.5 Interest Rate?
    Go to www.bankrate.com and use their calculator, keeping in mind it doesn鈥檛 factor in an estimation for taxes and insurance which are often included in a mortgage payment.
    that depends on if you are going to have your bank pay the escrow or you are going to do it yourself.

    How do you figure out where to put the decimal when multiplying decimals???

    Help please?How do you figure out where to put the decimal when multiplying decimals???
    ignore the decimals when u originally do the problem, then however many deciams there are in both of the decimals you're multiplying is how many there will b in the answer. i.e. if you multiply 6.78x4.234 together the answer will have 5 numbers behidnthe dceimal pointHow do you figure out where to put the decimal when multiplying decimals???
    When you multiply decimals, you move the decimal to the left however many total decimal places that were in the factors.

    For instance...

    0.25 * 0.3 = 0.075

    There are 2 decimal places in 0.25 and 1 decimal place in 0.3, so the product will move the decimal over 3 places.
    However many numbers the two numbers have after the decimal place is how many timems you move the decimal to the left.

    e.g.

    1.2

    1.2(both added are 2numbers after decimals)

    -----

    24

    120

    -------

    1.44
    You count the # of decimal places from the numbers being multiplied. For example:

    2.11 (notice that if you start from the right, there's 2 places until you get to the decimal) x 3.456 (notice that if you start from the right, there's 3 places until you get to the decimal) = 7.29216

    Notice that for the answer 7.29216 the decimal place is 5 places from the right since it was 2 places + 3 places = 5 places.

    Clear as mud?
    3.2 X 5 = 16.0 3.4 X 2 = 6.8 You multiply as you would any numbers , forgetting about the decimals, and then when you get the answer, you look at how many numbers follow the decimal in the two numbers you multiplied, and that is how many places from the right you put your decimal in the anwer. Ex:

    3.4

    X

    5.7

    -------

    238

    170

    --------

    1938 But you see that there were two numbers after decimals in the problem ( .4 and .7) So you have to count two spaces from the right in the answer, which makes the answer

    19.38 and not 1938. I hope this helps.
    When multiplying decimals, don't consider decimal places until the problem is solved. Count all places to the right of the decimal point in the problem. which is 5. Count that number of places in the product (the answer) starting from the right.

    example

    0.004

    x 0.02

    ignore the decimals then count how many spaces are behind the decimals on both numbers (after you do the problem) and put that many spaces in the product
    by counting how many numbers are after the decimals. Like if you do .2 * .3 you have two numbers that are after the decimal so your answer if .06. So with every one number you have after the decimal move the decimal to the left by one.
    Multiply like you would with two whole numbers, but then move the decimal point to the left once for each number to the right of the decimal point in either of the factors. For example:

    1.1 X 2.22

    11 X 222 = 2442

    3 total digits to the right of decimal point (.1, .22), so:

    2.442
    Let me show you by example:

    8.15

    x 4.2

    -------------

    when you multiply the problem above, you have the number: 34230

    to figure out where you put the decimal, you count the number of decimal spaces in the problem. 8.15 has 2 decimal spaces, 4.2 has 1 decimal space. You add them together to get 3, and that is how many decimal spaces will be in the result. You get the number: 34.230, or, 34.23

    hope I could help!
    when multiplying decimals, set up the problem like this (as an example):

    .45

    x .13

    ---------

    then, multiply as normal, ignoring the decimals, and youll find the answer (w/o decimals) is:

    135

    + 450

    =585

    you move the decimal point over 4 space, so the answer is: 0.0585 (the 0 after the decimal point is used as a filler so that you can move the decimal over 4 space). the reason you move it over the number of spaces you do has to do with the placement of the decimal points in the original equation. because the equation was .45 x .13, you have to move the decimal pt in the answer over 4 spaces, because in .45, the decimal is moved over 2 spaces from the end of the number (45), PLUS in .13 the decimal is moved over 2 spaces from the end of the number (13), and 2 PLUS 2 equals 4.

    if the example had been .45 times .1, i would move it over only THREE spaces in the answer, because in .45 and .1, the decimal is moved over two places in .45 and only ONE place in .1, making a total of 3 place movements. get it?
    Multiply normally, then count the number of places after each decimal point in the numbers and count from the right to left in your answer...........so 0.06 times 0.4 = 0.024
    okay now write the problem without the decimals then at the end when you finish multiplying then take and ask how many numbers are behind the decimal and move the decimal in your answer to get your decimal answer
    it stay where it was just add the for example .. 1.5 +0.75 = 2.25
    when multiplying just bring it strait down

  • If a website says its ringtones are free will Verizon figure out a way to charge me extra?

    I don't want to pay a dime.If a website says its ringtones are free will Verizon figure out a way to charge me extra?
    Well, if your phone is like mine, the ringtone has to be in the internal memory (as opposed to a microSD card) of the phone to work. Without a custom phone mod, you Can Not transfer ringtones into the internal memory of the phone unless you buy them from a Verizon vendor (ie. Get It Now).

    This is the problem with Verizon. While they have excellent phone service, they have locked up the rest of the phone tighter than a you know what. You can not upload your own ringtones or java programs (they use BREW). While I can't speak for all phones they make, this is my general understanding. Certain popular phones have phone specific mods that you can google. These mods involve changing data used by the internal phone programs. Once these mods are enabled, the transfer from the microSD or from a computer to the internal memory will then be enabled. However, you must be very careful in making them or your phone will end up as a glorious paper weight.

    However, I know nothing about this! -:)

    I have heard that there are alternative clever methods created by people which are applicable across all phones which don't involve moding. I haven't tried any of these but you can try googling them also.If a website says its ringtones are free will Verizon figure out a way to charge me extra?

    How do i figure out how many inches my tv screen is?

    i don't know what size it is, but i need to figure it out so i know what size to buy next. it's perfect for my room, so i don't need to go any smaller or bigger. how can i measure this?How do i figure out how many inches my tv screen is?
    Measure the space width, length, and depth. Also measure the opening diagonally. The diagonal measurement will give you an idea of what screen size you should be looking at - but don't forget that some TVs put the speakers on the sides, or have a large base, so you need to make sure that the particular set will still fit, even though the diagonal measurement seems to fit.

    For example, our TV has the speakers on the bottom, so the TV is about 4'; taller than just the screen, and the case adds about 1/2'; on the left, top and right sides. So even though the diagonal for the space for our TV was about 70';, we were only able to fit a 60'; TV into that spot because of the extra space for the casing and speakers.How do i figure out how many inches my tv screen is?
    You could measure the screen (not the whole TV) from corner to corner diagonally, or it is in the model number (found on the back of the tv) . For example if the model number is something like TBX32R400 or LE32BDRX then the TV is 32';.
    don't listen to any guys, as they tend to add a few inches to everything.
    To find it's size you measure diagonally.
    Measure it diagonally
    measure it at a diaganol from like the top left corner to the bottom right corner.

    Multiply 80 x 137 and you will have your square footage. You do not have an acre. An acre is @ 214 x 214 square feet.
    There are 43,560 Square Feet in an acre.

    Your lot is 80 X 137 ft.(?) or 10,960 Sq. Ft.

    If you divide 10,960 by 43,560 you get .251 acres - just a little over a quarter of an acre.

    Im trying to get it all ready for when I play againHow do you figure out your average for your points assists steals blocks and all that other good stuff?
    its not hardHow do you figure out your average for your points assists steals blocks and all that other good stuff?
    It's just the total number of points, rebounds, assists, etc. divided by the total number of games played.

    For example if you scored 65 points in 6 games--%26gt; 65/6= 10.8 points per game(ppg). It's the same calculation for all other stats. Good luck!
    Just add that specific stat and divide it by the number of games you've played in.

    For example.

    You have scored 150 points altogether in 5 games.

    Your average would be 30 points per game.
    add all your points and divide by how many games you have played in that season that will be your average same goes for the other category's
    you add all points together and divide by the number of games you played. same with al lthe other stats
    Add the toal of a stat. and divide by games played.
    When you know about that, I am sure you'll change your avatar name.

    If sowing for a ranch, check with the Agriculture Experiment Stations in your state.(search the web and they'll be found easily) They are very helpful.How do i figure the seed population for sowing?
    what kind of seeds are you sowing? i plant my corn at 9'; spacing with 30'; rows and I get around 19000 seeds/acre with this method and my planter.

    if you are broadcasting something like wheat, go by the total weight of the seeds. i think the last time i planted wheat it was around 120 lbs/acre.

    if you are planting your lawn, the bag of seed will tell you how many square feet it will plant if new or if reseeded. reseeded coverage is generally twice that of new. in this case, find out your area and buy enough seed according to the coverage listed on the bag.

    b) since the curve is open at the top it has only a minimum

    How to find a minimum??

    a) a minimum occurs with this type of curve when the slope = 0

    b) to find the slope derive f(x)=2x^2+7x+3

    f'(x) = 4x + 7

What is the difference in interest over the three years between the two financial?I'm having trouble with these questions how do i figure out the answer plz?
    Hi, I answered one of your questions the other day. You sent me an email thanking me for the response. I replied but my email was not delivered to you because on your Yahoo site you have not chosen to accept emails.

    Clive 1933

    The easiest way to calculate this question is by calculating the difference in the two interest rates.

    It is 10.25% -10.0% = 0.25%

    Now $8,000 x 0.25/100 x3 = $60.00

    The difference in interest paid over the three years is $60.

    The longer way would be to calculate the interest rate on each loan and then subtract the lower from the higher.

    $8,000 x 0.1025 x 3 = $2,460

    $8,000 x 0.1000 x 3 = $2,400

    $2,460 - $2,000 = $60.00

    Remember that 10% means 10 for every 100 or 10/100 which is written as a decimal as 0.10

    10 1/4% as a decimal is 10.25% or 10.25/100 which is written as a decimal as 0.1025I'm having trouble with these questions how do i figure out the answer plz?
    i'm not really sure how this goes by i'll have a try

    so in both cases the principal is $8000 and the time is 3yrs

    the first place has a 10% interst over 3 years

    so r = 10/300= 0.03333 anually

    interest = p( ([1+r]^n) - 1)

    =8000( ( [1+ 0.033333]^3) -1)

    = $825.96

    the second place has a 10 1/4 % interest over 3 years

    r=41/400 in 3 years=0.03416 annually

    interest = 8000( (1.03416)^3 - 1) = $848.33

    the difference is $22.87

    hope i was of help.. this could easily be a blunder, wat i've done

    agreed with the tracking device. follow him around everywhere and stalk him
    Just hang out. You dont need him. Theres like a million more boys out there. He doesnt seem safe. Ask the girls he dated, or just check him out.
    Put a tracking device on him, and follow him around.
    People don't change.... hehehe... btw... he's playing you... just saying...
    forget about him, because you'll start liking him and he'll just take advantage of you, he'll kiss you and do stuff with you, but of coarse youll go with it because you like him. Then he'll get bored of you and move on and you won't be able to get over him :)

    Math geniuses I really need your help.How do you figure out your percentage if the test if worth 30%?

    I guess you want a weighted average but we're lacking other info. if an example will help, let's say you got a grade of 80 on an assignment that's worth 70%, and a grade of 60 on the test worth 30%. all weighting % have to add up to 100%

    80(.7) + 60(.3) = 56+18 = 72

    a simple average assigns the same weight to each value, so if there were two, they would each be worth 50%, 3 would each be worth 33.3%, 4 would be worth 25% each, and so forth. a weighted average allows you to make some values worth more or less than others. for the two values I use above -- 80 and 60, a simple average would be (80+60)/2 = 70.

    How do I figure out my one rep max?

    I haven't maxed out in a couple of months in flat bench press. What I've been doing recently is 3 sets of 5 to 6 reps at 205lbs. My previous max is 235lbs. Also, I was wondering if this applies to dips as well? I use a weight belt and attach a 45lbs weight (3 sets of 10 reps). I don't like to try to max out in dips in fear of hurting myself. If it helps I am exactly 180lbs and 6'-0'; tall. ThanksHow do I figure out my one rep max?
    Make sure you have someone to spot you when you are maxing out, and preferably always when you are lifting.

    That being said you can warm up a little with something like 10 reps of 100 lbs to get your arms warmed up, then start at 240 and try one rep. If you get it then move up to 245 and try one rep. Keep going up by 5lbs until you fail. Now, rest for a couple of days, then do your normal routine for a month or so, then max out again. This time after you warm up try whatever wait you failed at the first time, so if you made it up to 265, but couldn't lift 270 then this time you start at 270.

    That will give you a good idea of your 1 rep max.

    I wouldn't recommend maxing out on dips. The consequences of a failed dip with a large amount of wait can be extremely serious and it's very difficult for someone to spot you on dips.

    Calculate the mass of solution required to prepare a 6.0% w/w tile and houshold cleaner solution containing 15.5g of sodium phosphate.How do I figure out this chemistry problem?
    i think you would do 15.5 divided by .06. so basically my way is fastest instead of 3rd oneHow do I figure out this chemistry problem?
    If you make a 6% w/w solution of sodium phosphate. you must know:

    %w/w = mass solute/mass solution

    let the mass of solute = X

    6/100 = X/100+X

    100X = 600+6X

    94X = 600

    X = 6.383g

    Mass of solution = 106.383g

    Check: 6.383/106.383*100 = 6.00% solution

    But you want to use 15.5g sod phosphate

    Mass of solution = 15.5/6.383*106.383

    Mass of solution = 258.333g solution

    Check: 15.5/258.333*100 = 6.00%

    You must dissolve 15.5g sod phos in sufficient water to make a final solution with a mass of 258.333g
    15% w/w means 15% of the solution is sodium phosphate, by weight (actually mass). Let ';x'; be the mass of water needed to make the solution.

    6.00 = 15.5 g

    ------- ------------

    100 x +15.5 g

    P-wave velocity is 8 km/sec. S-wave velocity is 3 km/sec. If the P-wave arrives at a seismographic station 5 seconds ahead of the S-wave, how far away was the earthquake?

    a. 15 km

    b. 24 km

    c. 30 km

    d. 48 kmHow do you figure out this geology problem?
    Figure it out. Here's an easy way:

    at t0, the distance both P and S waves have travelled is 0.

    at t1 (1 sec), P = 8 km, S is 3 km

    at t2 (2 sec), P = 16 km, S = 6 km

    at t3 (3 sec), p = 24 km, S = 9 km

    Just keep doing that until the difference in the distances is 15 km, and that will be your answer.

    How come every time I go to edit my avatar and I customize it to show the full figure of my avatar it only....?

    I edit my avatar so her whole body comes but when I come to yahoo answers it doesn't show, how can i fix this?How come every time I go to edit my avatar and I customize it to show the full figure of my avatar it only....?
    In a few days Yahoo will be replacing the 360 profile with a new general profile. The avatar will come from there and can only be square. You will therefore only have the use of a full avatar for a very short time.

    № 1. First go to this page and download a large jpg avatar to your computer.

    http://avatars.yahoo.com/download.html

    № 2. Crop the picture to eliminate space around avatar. The more you remove from the sides, the longer it will be.

    № 3. Create a Yahoo 360 account if you don't have one. You can get one at http://360.yahoo.com . Click on the ';My Page'; tab and then ';Edit Personal Photos';. You are allowed to put four pictures there by following the instructions. Mark the one you want to use as primary.

    № 4. Now save everything and go back to Yahoo Answers. Click on your old avatar in Yahoo Answers which brings you to your profile. Now go to ';Edit My Info';. You can pick the picture there to use.
